Stop the Great Sippy Switcheroo:Make Your Own Label

,
Ever seen one of these?

It’s designed to help end the sippy switcheroo that often occurs in nurseries. Either that, or it will give your child a sense of self-identity. I must admit that I think they’re pretty nifty.

Well, my friend, you too can have one…to the tune of $11.95.

Or…

That’s right, folksβ€”you can do this for FREE!

It’s probably pretty self explanatory, but all you need is a wide rubber band and a permanent marker. Want your kid to feel even cooler? You could use colored rubber bands and colored markers. (I don’t want my kid to feel cool; thus the boring colors. πŸ˜‰ ) Coolest yet(from the comments)?Β  You could reverse one of those rubber bracelets and write the name on that!
.
And unlike tape, you can use it again and again and from cup to cup, bottle to bottle. Works great for Daddy and Mommy cups, too!

Wow, Hana Kate is drinking out of a sippy already? I’m astounded! πŸ™‚

  2. Love this idea and you can make it “cute” with colors, too!

  3. keren says:

No–Don’t worry. πŸ™‚ And she stopped rolling over, too. Now she’s just a normal, boring baby. πŸ˜‰

  4. Tami says:

I make my own out of all those rubber bracelets my older kids seem to accumulate. I just turn them inside out and write names.

  5. Kendra says:

What a great idea! Can’t believe I never thought of this. I just write my kids names on labels, or masking tape and stick it to the cup, but it’s a pain to remove, and you have to re-do it every time, not very frugal. This is a great alternative!!

This is a great idea! I was just going to write his initials on the bottom of the cup in permanent marker, but the rubberband idea is cute!

I LOVE this idea. Mine are almost out of sippy cups, but I will share this with all my friends and they will think I’m a genius! Just kidding.

    Great tip!

  11. oooooh, great idea!

  12. What a fabulous idea! And here I have just been writing on the top of the actual cup from time to time with permanent marker. Wish I had known this tip years ago!

  13. Sonshine says:

Great idea! With still having one young enough that is using a sippy cup this would work great for him taking one to the church nursery.

  14. THIS is something I can USE! I’m sick of the dishwasher washing off my Sharpie labels! LOL

  15. Nichole says:

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing it.

  16. Amy says:

Great idea! And I think it will work with my DD’s sports bottles, too. Thanks for sharing!

Cute idea. We use masking tape and a sharpie in our nursery. But I gotta say, It’s not usually the workers who mix up the cups. It’s the kids. They can’t read and whats more, they dont care.

  18. Judy says:

What a fantastic idea! I love it!

  19. Great idea. We’ve lost more sippy cups to the church nursery because they weren’t marked!

  20. Amy says:

Great idea! I’ve been out of the sippy cup business for so long, i’d almost forgotten about it. But I’m about to be back in sippy cup hades, so i’m taking note of your excellent idea!

  21. I love it and I’m going rubber band hunting today. The church nursery is always asking me to label the baby’s drinks!

  22. Kati says:

Thank you for this very easy idea. We have now done this with our son’s sippy cups. We are using the “awareness” bracelets which work great for us since we were them anyhow to make people aware of our son’s condition. πŸ™‚ Thanks!

  23. I came over from Handprints on the Wall. This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

There is a similar product on the market (BANDETTE) with a cool character and writable name label:

My wife’s company makes this, and we have 9 kids, ages 10 and under, so I can tell you it works!
