Saving Money on Honey

Now that we’ve been making challah on a weekly basis, I’ve realized that we use a bit more honey than in the past. And honey can get quite expensive!

If you’re not too particular about your baking honey, you may want to check your dollar store! Several of our local dollar stores (where it is actually just $1) carry 12 oz. bottles of honey for just $1.

And for all you CVS-ers out there with extra ECB’s, CVS carries honey in the $1 section. (Just make sure that you are actually getting it from the $1 section, as they also carry honey in their regular food section. By the way, the CVS dollar section honey, is actually a blend of corn syrup and honey. ) This is a great money saver for our challah! :)

    Hi,
I didn’t know that CVS has a dollar section in the store. Can you tell me what other types of items are located there also? Honey for $1 is a great find as well as blessing.

Darn, my CVS doesn’t have a dollar section. But we do have a lot of “Family Dollar” stores around here. I’m going to look for honey there next time I need it!

    Lyn,

They have crackers, tuna, water bottles, etc… I’ve noticed that not all CVS’s have dollar sections.

    Mom2fur,

I’m not sure if it would be $1 at Family Dollars, but I’d be interested to learn!

Honey lasts a long time. Even if it has crystals it is still edible. Just warm the honey to dissolve the crystals.
